What pushes the price up
- Converting from a system or regular boiler: removing the cylinder and loft tanks and re-plumbing.
- Moving the boiler to a new room.
- A new flue route, especially a vertical flue through the roof.
- Upgrading the gas pipe if it's too small for a modern combi.
- A system clean or powerflush, which many manufacturers require to honour longer warranties.
Is a more expensive boiler worth it?
Often the main difference is warranty length and parts availability. A mid-range boiler with a 10-year warranty, fitted by a good installer, is usually better value than a premium boiler fitted badly.
Can I get a grant for a new combi boiler?
Some households on certain benefits may qualify for help through energy company schemes. Most private homeowners pay the full cost. Check GOV.UK for current schemes.
